This story is about a youth in old Hawaii who goes in search of the Fire Goddess Pele at her retreat on the summit of Mauna Loa. Young Kalani's idea to seek the wisdom of Tutu Pele turns out to be a transformative adventure that changes the way he sees the world. Guided by the creatures of the island, he learns that the answers to life's biggest questions often begin in the heart.

Inspired by Leo Tolstoy's timeless tale The Three Questions, this Hawaiian re-imagining invites readers of all ages to journey with Kalani through a land alive with spirit, nature, and aloha-and to discover, as he does, that the greatest wisdom is found in living with love and purpose.
