Jahrbuch Fur Schlesische Kirchengeschichte: 97/98 (2018/2019)
Synopsis
The articles of this volume mainly deal with two topics. One is churchbuilding as a means of church politics of the Prussian state, of which Silesia was a part, during the 19th century - the architectural ideas of the Eisenacher Regulativ (Piotr Birecki) and the Wiesbadener Programm (Christian Brennecke) as well as examples of Prussian altar painting (Christian Scholl) are discussed. The second topic is the contribution of Silesia to the development of the German evangelical hymn book in theological, literary, and musicological perspectives - after a general overview of the history of the Silesian evangelical hymn book (Jonas Milde) the poets Johann Heermann (Hans-Otto Korth), Angelus Silesius (Christian Moller), and Benjamin Schmolck (Georg Braungart) are presented as well as the composers Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Theodor Romhildt who wrote cantatas on texts by Schmolck (Marc Roderich Pfau). Furthermore the volume entails an article on the history of the evangelical-theological faculty of Breslau (Simon Gerber).
