This dual Spanish-English collection of poems by a Venezuelan poet focuses on the island nature of his country's Caribbean coast. Its rich observation of physical island-scapes is realised in imagery that strikes both with its freshness and rightness, and its speculative concern with the nature of islands in the Western imagination challenges us to new points of view. Robin Myers' translation is both subtle and beautiful.
