The "Institut fur Realienkunde des Mittelalters und der fruhen Neuzeit" organized together with the "Mediavistenverband" in 2003 at Krems the international congress "Virtual spaces. Perception of space and ideas of space in the Middle Ages". The volume comprises lectures, which have been presented within the section "Imaginary Spaces". Different disciplines - history, theology, art history, German philology - are dealing with the origin of "imaginary spaces".
