Il Restauro Del Sacrario Militare Di Redipuglia
Synopsis
The Redipuglia Military Memorial, built in 1938 to replace the previous Sant'Elia cemetery, is the largest military shrine in Italy. It houses the remains of 100,187 soldiers, plus one woman, the only one buried there, Margherita Kaiser Parodi, who fell in the tragic battles that took place on these lands. The "Shrine of the Hundred Thousand" thus holds central importance for the rooting, continuation, and strengthening of memory. The coordination effort was significant among all relevant parties, including the Ministry of Defense, the Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendence of Friuli Venezia Giulia, local communities, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and the municipality of Fogliano Redipuglia. Along with the desire to deliver a monument that will endure in its original configuration for future generations, this challenge has been the goal that the Mission Structure has set for itself over the years, until achieving the final result.
