The Castle of Aglie is perhaps the most remarkable among the Royal Residences of Savoy. Over the centuries, the gardens evolved from their formal seventeenth-century layout to embrace the French model in the eighteenth century and then the new landscapes of the nineteenth century. Each phase ties in with the preceding ones, creating elegant connections between the palace, the terraces, the flower garden, the park and the estate as a whole, punctuated by staircases, steps, ramps, fountains, viewpoints and perspectives.
