Happy With the Millionaire: Rosettis 2
Synopsis
Hermione Youngson, owns and operates an events business she's built with money from her mother's modest inheritance. The much larger Youngson bequest is controlled by the terms of her uncle's Will. If she causes dishonour to the Youngson name, the legacy will be forfeited to a failing cat refuge.
When she takes on a celebratory Halloween party for IT firm, YaLox, Hermione meets the wheelchair-bound owner and CEO, Zach Yates. They get off to a rocky start when Zach refuses to participate in any of the childish activities Hermione's team offer for the evening. He returns to the centre in the morning because her bubbly personality captivates him.
Zach's business is expanding. His goal is to take over an older IT firm, Brigham's. He needs Hermione to play along as his date when he meets with Brigham who was her late uncle's close friend. Hermione cautiously agrees.
On a weekend away, for a friend's wedding, the desire Hermione and Zach have for each other leads to the bedroom. Then, when Hermione asks Zach to check the phone message that pings while she's doing her make-up, he reads a hateful comment about himself, and leaves, abandoning her.
At the next preplanned YaLox event in Hermione's business, Zach creates a public scene before the cream of Sydney's business elite. Brigham warns that her uncle's lawyers might construe the altercation as a scandal, according to her uncle's Will, and advises her to sell before the lawyers learn of it.
A month later, when Zach discovers who sent the damning text, he realises Hermione was not party to it and seeks to make amends with her. The leg pain he'd experienced on their weekend away was a trigger for his rehabilitation from his psychosomatic paralysis. Walking with the aid of a frame, he arrives to apologise. He's shocked to learn she's sold her business because of his embarrassing behaviour.
It wasn't his misunderstanding of Hermione's culpability for the message that hurt her, but his lack of trust. She sends him away.
He's persistent. When he returns, he explains the history of his distrust, apologises, and declares his love. His explanation convinces her to accept his marriage proposal. He persuades her to go to Singapore with him. There he introduces her to the concept of a cat café and confesses he's bought the cat refuge in Sydney, to gift to her, safeguarding her access to the Youngson bequest. He's freed her from her uncle's control just as she's freed him from himself. Together they can face a future unburdened by the past.
