Against his better judgment, radio announcer Jon Swenson decides to travel halfway across the country to attend his high school's twenty-five-year reunion. Once there, he comes face-to-face with a heartthrob from his past, homecoming queen Abby Pierce, whom he never had the courage to meet when they were classmates. Abby, who is married and more beautiful than ever, asks him to be her escort for the weekend-a risky venture for Jon because his trusting wife has remained back home, some fourteen hundred miles away. And the next few months only add fuel to the flames, for Abby seems to have a definite flair for showing up at the most inopportune times and places. With her own marriage faltering, she begins to view Jon as someone who can finally bring meaning to her empty life. But is he really the answer?
