The mood is humor, satire and curiosity about the world. Domestic animals, birds and beasts of the farmyard and the zoo, these are his favorite pictorial subjects - and they are only humanized by the virtue of the context in which Drew puts them. The creatures themselves are realistic: their situations are not. This contrast, along with rhymes and puns, creates the humor.
