Synopsis
The current edition of the story in Cologne takes up one article each about the medieval Jewish cemetery in Cologne and the Deutz Jews v. a. in the early modern period, the festival year 1,700 years of Jewish life in Germany. Other articles deal with the lost statue bases of Roman Cologne, the linguistic roots of today's Kölsch, the British occupation of the Rhineland after the First World War, the teaching staff of the Deutz Realgymnasium for boys during the Nazi era, the sickness camp in Cologne-Gremberg during the Second World War as well as the government bunker under the vineyards of the Ahr valley during the Cold War. The history of the new Cologne University and the historical seminar there deal with two essays about the chair holder Justus Hashagen and the views of the teachers in the 1920s and 1930s. The volume is rounded off by five mishaps on current topics and reviews of recently published books.
