Ages 9 to 12 years. "Extraordinary Women Explorers" takes the reader across tens of thousands of miles over four continents, up to the top of the world, and through the extraordinary lives of 12 women. Their stories begin with Sacagawea, guide to the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805, and end in the present, with Mattie McNair, leader of Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. These are stories of the adventure, courage, daring and determination of women who found a way to live their dreams.
