Expectation

Hannah, Cate and Lissa are young, vibrant and inseparable. Living on the edge of a common in East London, their shared world is ablaze with art and activism, romance and revelry, and the promise of everything to come. But several years on, none are where they hoped to be. Cate, a new mother, is struggling with her son, while her husband and mother-in-law expect more than she can give. Successful Hannah undertakes another round of IVF, her marriage reduced to her ability to conceive. And while Lissa is still pursuing her goal of being an actress, she drifts endlessly in the hope of making her mother proud. Each woman hungers for what the others have. And each wrestles with the same question: what does it take to lead a meaningful life?
