Ein Nachwort fuhrt in die poetische und emblematische Wirkungsgeschichte von Gerhards Erbauungsbuch ein. This volume makes the first poetic version of the Meditationes accessible once again and contains reproductions of all those copperplates which were included in the 1665 edition (which was reprinted many times). The afterword provides an introduction into the history of the poetic and emblematic impact of Gerhards devotional work.
