Ein Fussballverein Aus Wien: Der FK Austria Im Nationalsozialismus 1938--1945
Synopsis
FK Austria Wien is a representative of the city of Vienna and Austria. After the "annexation" to National Socialist Germany, extreme contradictions quickly became apparent: The board, which was made up entirely of Jews, was expelled, the team remained unchanged for the time being, and the club appeared for a short time as "SC Ostmark". Stars like Matthias Sindelar came to terms with each other, others emigrated or were killed on the front lines. The midfielder Hans Mock was a member of the SA, SS Brigade Leader Ernst Kaltenbrunner became - nominally - honorary president. FK Austria and its earlier successes remained an essential part of Viennese football culture under National Socialism, although the former officials were kept secret.
