Disinherited: Scottish Novel

After the death of Hugh Cairns, his son and heir Hector along with the extensive Clanmere estate comes under the custody of his scheming uncle Thomas who is determined to become the Laird of Clanmere by falsely accusing Hector of Treason. Hector flees for his life and finds refuge within a gypsy camp. Frightened and fatigued from a long journey, Hector seeks the help of Lord Dow (lawyer) and Ex Lieutenant Gregory Armstrong, who fights for his cause. Hector wins his case and his scheming uncle and his son get their just rewards. Hector becomes the second Earl of Lanark.
