The book examines the development of the Zipf brewery in the context of the Austrian brewing industry. The focus is on the time of National Socialism, when the V2 armaments factory "Schlier" and a subcamp in Mauthausen significantly influenced the brewery's operation and its difficult handling after the war. Based on an analysis of the beginnings and growth of the Zipf brewery from 1858 to 1938 against the background of the history of the Austrian brewing industry, the book examines the development of the Zipf brewery during the interwar period. Then the reorganization of economic life by the new Nazi rulers after the Anschluss in 1938 is discussed as well as the quartering of the V2 armaments factory "Schlier" and the establishment of the corresponding Mauthausen satellite camp.
