Unified Germany is no longer a front state as in the Cold War. Is Germany a backburner? "German Power" or the new German question is not yet subject of the book, whereas the former division of the country is still partly evident, as President Mayer points out. The GfD, the society of German Studies, has existed since 1978 and deals with questions concerning the unification processes in Germany since 1990.
