Der Elohist: Gegenwart Und Wirksamkeit Des Transzendenten Gottes in Der Geschichte
Synopsis
The assumption of a source E (lohist) is not an "erroneous path" of research, but is enforced by those phenomena that first triggered modern Pentateuch criticism: the duplication of the material, the change of the name of God and - above all - the coincidence of both phenomena , The main concern of the Elohist is the narrative foundation of the confession claimed by the prophecy of the 9th century "Yahweh - he is the God" (1Kn 18:21) by portraying the founding history of Israel as progressive self-discovery of God in his compassion. The God, whose existence Israel owes its existence to, is none other than Yahweh (Num 23,8.19.21 f); because according to his name, being together is his essence (Ex 3:14). Other theological concerns of the work are related to this "kerygma".
