The musical, with a book by Steven Levenson and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, opened on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre in December 2016, after its world premiere at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC, in July 2015 and an Off-Broadway production in March to May 2016.

Dear Evan Hansen won six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.
