After a lifetime associated with the Prussian army, Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831) wrote a treatise that forever changed the art of war. In his view, war and politics go hand in hand: the warlike spirit is born from the ideas and sentiments of a territory, and battles, therefore, must be placed within a logical and historical framework.
These postulates led to a shift that made On War a crucial title in the history of thought. This edition offers a selection of this work, publishing books I-III and VIII in their entirety and in a scrupulous translation by Carlos Fortea, directly translated by the author.
