Dave and Death: A Story About Not Dying

Dave Marshall is, in technical terms, absolutely fucked.

Trapped in a soul-crushing Manchester call center and drowning in overdue utility bills, twenty-eight-year-old Dave spends his mornings counting thirty-seven cracks in his bedroom ceiling. When a freak toaster accident nearly ends it all, he doesn't see a tunnel of light. Instead, he meets a cynical, Manchester-accented Reaper wearing chicken-patterned oven mitts.

But it's not Dave's time-not yet. The Reaper, weary of collecting souls burdened by the same "I wish I'd tried" regrets, offers a life-altering deal: Dave has thirty days to prove his life is worth living. If he succeeds, he earns a second chance. If he fails, the Reaper grants him a peaceful exit.

Armed with a dusty Nikon camera and a month-long deadline, Dave begins The Regret Project, documenting the hidden beauty and gritty pain of urban life. From the grime of street corners to the warmth of a quiet café, Dave must decide if a mundane existence of "ceramics and bins and toast" is worth fighting for.
