Early modern philosophy is often divided into the categories of Continental Rationalism and British Empiricism. This volume contends that there is a rich tradition of empiricism in early modern continental Europe. Each chapter provides a case study from the 16th- and 17th-century history of philosophy. These studies range from epistemology to natural philosophy and from the history of scientific institutions to experimental philosophy.
