Synopsis

Bruce Gilden (born 1946) is one of the most significant figures in contemporary photography, a pillar of the Magnum agency and a leading figure in street photography, whose work has appeared on the pages of newspapers around the world. Renowned for a unique and immediately recognizable style, and celebrated for his raw, powerful portraits of life on the city streets, Gilden is regarded as one of the most important and influential interpreters of the metropolitan scene in the history of this genre. The publication features a selection of approximately ninety black-and-white and colour images, ranging from portraits to street photography (close-up shots recognisable for his distinctive style) including vintage and contemporary photographs, as well as two new and unpublished reinterpretations of Raphael's paintings held in Brescia, through which Gilden reinterprets the concept of "grace" expressed by the great Renaissance master.
