Birch Water

Scarlet is living a distorted reality - for years she has been forgotten, as if by a curse, by those she becomes close to and continues to flee her past as its shadows loom over her every movement and thought. Accustomed to her hellish pattern and ignoring the whispered reminders and dreams of the events which triggered it, she is unprepared for the disruption that appears in the form of a capricious young man who seems just as detached and rejected by the world and everything in it as herself. Despite knowing that the encounter is ill fated because of her strange effect on others, she impetuously decides to follow him on his equally uneven journey and slowly confronts her own past as she seeks to divulge his. But when the shadows begin to form familiar faces and the whispers rise to screams, will she be able to break the cycle of her hidden curse? Will she be able to protect her new bond rather than witness it fall away and be forced to start again? And will she be able to finally confront the one who swore he loved her before chaining her to her broken existence?
