Between System and Intuition: Concrete Women Artists

For the first time, the group of so-called concrete women artists is the subject of a publication in Germany. The chronological arc spans from the 1920s to the 1970s, including concrete-constructivist art between the world wars and concrete art after 1945. The catalog focuses on central groups of works by twelve women artists, which are illuminated by contributions from top-class art experts and artists. In addition, the educational and presentation conditions for women at the time as well as the networks within which the women artists were able to operate. With works by Marcelle Cahn, Geneviève Claisse, Sonia Delaunay, Clara Friedrich-Jezler, Lily Greenham, Katarzyna Kobro, Verena Loewensberg, Vera Molnar, Aurelie Nemours, Charlotte Posenenske, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, and Mary Vieira.
