Almost 16 years ago, Mateo's island homeland disappeared into the sea, the survivors escaping to New York. Mateo - now a teenage piano prodigy living with his two aunts (one alive, the other not so much) - is focused on getting the attention of local musical legend Gerval. He finally gets his chance on the night of the Grand Fete, but then his life is forever changed when he witnesses a murder. Suddenly he's thrust into an ancient battle. Deadly secrets are unravelled and Mateo awakens a power within himself that not only links him to the killer but could also unlock the dark mystery behind his lost homeland.
