Synopsis
Alberto Vital performs in this work a rereading and comparison between two versions of the Gospel of John. He presents his own interpretation of it, and shows that living lessons can be drawn from biblical texts thanks to their universality. If Jesus of Nazareth was not the Son of God, then he was the greatest anthropologist and crowd psychologist who ever lived anywhere on the planet, millennia before it was even possible to conceive of anthropology, psychology, and sociology as systematic disciplines. Like many, Jesus understood the sacrificial nature of life. But, like few others, he proposed a root change from sacrifice as death to sacrifice as symbol. In addition, he considered himself chosen and presented himself as a last sacrifice, so that from then on, peace would reign on Earth.
