Synopsis

Anathema: A Tragedy In Seven Scenes is a play written by the Russian author Leonid Andreyev. The play is set in a small village in Russia and centers around the character of Ivan Petrovich, a wealthy landowner who becomes obsessed with a young woman named Liza. Liza is engaged to another man, but Ivan's obsession leads him to try and win her over. The play explores themes of love, jealousy, and the destructive nature of obsession. It is divided into seven scenes, each of which builds on the previous one to create a powerful and emotional narrative. Anathema is considered one of Andreyev's most important works and is a classic of Russian literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
