Alice in Wonderland

Alice had enjoyed a quiet and tranquil life in the old English countryside, where she played happily in the rolling hills behind her house. She had walked through these woods many times before; but today, with the help of a white rabbit, she was whisked into a world of magical potions, talking animals, playing-card queens, smoking caterpillars, mock turtles, and floating cats. The events that occurred filled her mind with a dizzy, hazy feeling, as though she had been transported somewhere distant and strange. Accused of stealing the precious tarts of a tyrannical queen, she was forced to encounter a cast of characters that heightened the mystery surrounding her. Alice in Wonderland was originally written by Lewis Carroll in 1865. It details a story of a girl who falls in a rabbit hole into a fantasy world of talking animals and nonsense. The story has been retold over the past century in plays, movies and rewrites.
