Synopsis

Pompeii, 79 A.D.

Taras thought he had made peace with his dark new life, and with the Bachiyr who gave it to him, until a tense meeting with an ancient renegade named Baella convinces him that his old enemy still has to die. In the city of Pompeii, over a dozen children have gone missing, including the son of a local guard. His dauntless wife has made it her mission to find the boy, but her search ultimately leads her right to Theron's door. Theron has vowed to take revenge on the Council of Thirteen. In his cave on Mt. Vesuvius, he is finally close to discovering the means to defeat the ultimate weakness of vampire life: the Sun itself. Once he succeeds, he will become the most powerful Bachiyr in the history of his race, and the Council will fall to his anger. The eruption was not part of the plan.
