2G #96 Bangkok Tokyo Architecture
Synopsis
Bangkok Tokyo Architecture is an architectural studio founded by Wtanya Chanvitan and Takahiro Kume in 2017 between Tokyo and Bangkok. The studio is fascinated by open-ended structures and the thoughtful assembly of everyday elements, blurring the lines between the ordinary and the exceptional. Their practice explores ways to liberate architecture from the realm of experts and professionals, aiming to discover potential models of continuity. Bangkok Tokyo Architecture has gained internatinal recognition; the studio was Highly Commended at the Architectural Review Emerging Awards 2023, Winner of the 2024 Rice University Spotlight Award, and Finalist for the 2025 Lisbon Triennale Millennium bcp Debut Award. Wtanya and Takahiro contribute to architecture both as educators and practitioners across a range of cultural and institutional contexts.
