On her thirteenth birthday the daughter of a Bradford judge is kidnapped, sparking a massive police operation led by Detective chief Superintendent John Munro. Left off the investigation because of her past encounters with Munro, DC Karen Sharpe is pursuing an enquiry into allegations of child abuse by a local MP ten years ago, and she uncovers connections with the present day disappearance of Sophie Kenyon.
