On the eve of a major international AIDS conference in London, it's leather night at a discreet London sauna for gay men - where the conference chair, Pomfrey Lister, is found dead.

Noel, secondhand bookseller and Pomfrey's ex-lover, teams up with Sylvie, Pomfrey's ex-assistant, to uncover the suspicious circumstances of Pomfrey's demise. Their amateur sleuthing reveals layers of deception, rivalry and danger.
