Bernadette Mayer: These Stories About After the Revolution
Synopsis
Listen and read along to the poet's radical works, performed across four decades in significant literary venues nationwide
Containing both a vinyl LP and chapbook, These Stories About After the Revolution compiles revolutionary and utopian writing, created between the 1970s and 2010s, by renowned American experimental poet and teacher Bernadette Mayer (1945-2022). This compilation includes celebrated works alongside lesser-known poems from out-of-print books. In a departure from more traditional compilations of recorded poetry which often focus on a single reading or recording session, or a selection of poets on a shared theme, this collection spans decades and various locations. Highlighting a breadth of Mayer's poetry across important literary venues and reading series foundational to the poetry community in the United States, the collection includes readings from the Poetry Project (New York City), the Ear Inn Series (New York City), Naropa Institute (Boulder), Woodberry Poetry Room (Harvard University, Cambridge) and the Kelly Writer's House (University of Pennsylvania).
